Students learning at an OPT workshop

Optional Practical Training (OPT) workshops and advising are available through Western Michigan University's International Student and Scholar Services (I3S). These sessions assist F-1 students in understanding and applying for U.S. temporary employment authorization, allowing recent graduates to gain field-related work experience.

Register for OPT workshops at the I3S office, 3110 Faunce Student Services Building, or by calling 269-387-5865.

Workshops are virtual and in-person. In-person events are limited to 15 people a time. Registration is required. Virtual attendees receive a Webex link by email. Workshops begin promptly. Please arrive 5 to 10 minutes early.

WMU's International Student and Scholar Services is part of the Haenicke Institute for Global Education. Click here to learn more about the Institute and its offerings.
