Respondus LockDown Browser & Monitor

What is the Respondus LockDown Browser and Monitor?

The LockDown Browser is a custom browser that prevents students from accessing other browser windows, applications, copy/paste, printing and other features while a test is in progress.

Respondus Monitor is an option within the LockDown Browser that will use the student's webcam to record the test taking session. An automated process detects suspicious behavior during a test session. Video segments with potential exam violations are flagged for the instructor, with an overall risk level assigned to the exam session. Instructors are able to review the video recordings of the tests sessions.

Respondus Webinars

Respondus is currently conducting daily 45-minute training webinars for instructors on using the LockDown Browser and Monitor. A full schedule and signup links for those webinars is available at the link below.

Recommendations:

In order to ensure that your exams run smoothly, we strongly recommend creating an ungraded practice quiz that requires the use of LockDown Browser. Leave the quiz available for the duration of the course, with unlimited attempts, so students can access it again if they use a different computer.
