Mindfulness Sessions

Posted by Tammy Boneburg for Western Wellness

In today’s fast-paced world, we often forget to slow down and take a moment to reconnect with the most important and valuable person impacting our lives–ourselves. Studies show mindfulness meditation can improve well-being at work and lead to happier, healthier, and more productive employees. Mindfulness offers a tool to better understand ourselves, our biases, and how we relate to others through those lenses which can help in turn cultivate a greater connection with the community.

This program takes a research-driven approach to the mind/body connection, offering an increased understanding of what is happening biologically and neurologically. We will explore the health benefits associated with mindfulness as well as take time to write, reflect, share, and learn from peers.

During these sessions, participants will:

  •  Be introduced to simple breathing techniques shown to reduce stress and improve self-awareness;

  •  Learn the application of mindfulness and self-compassion;

  •  Deepen understanding of the relationship with self and its impact on effectively coping with conflict, trauma, and the ability to handle societal changes;

  • Cultivate understanding and crucial sensitivities about diversity, equity and inclusivity;

  • Be offered opportunities to participate in mindfulness techniques and practices as well as writing/journaling exercises;

  • Experience growth and deepening of listening skills and reflection practices.

“Mindfulness allows us to reconnect with those spaces in our body where we store somatic sensations and experience ourselves fully, so we can once again learn to love ourselves and be more comfortable with ourselves”
–Carl Jung
