Textile and Apparel Studies Program Undergoes Title Change

The Textile and Apparel Studies major in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences has a new title. Effective fall 2015, the name of the major will be fashion merchandising and design.

The major offers two concentrations: fashion design and development, and fashion merchandising. The fashion design and development concentration prepares graduates for creative design, technical design, sourcing and brand management careers in the apparel and soft goods industry. The fashion merchandising major focuses on preparing graduates for careers in fashion retailing and marketing. Both concentrations offer opportunities to study abroad, or attend Fashion Institute of Technology in New York as part of their major.
