Peter Dobek receives second Kosciuszko Foundation scholarship

History doctoral candidate Peter Dobek was recently awarded a second scholarship from the Kosciuszko Foundation for Fall 2017.  Founded in 1925, the Kosciuszko Foundation promotes educational and cultural exchanges

between the United States and Poland, and works to increase American understanding of Polish culture and history. The scholarship will support Peter’s dissertation titled “Karczma/Taberna: Public Houses in Cracow during the Jagiellonian Dynasty.” He received his first Kosciuszko Foundation scholarship in 2013, and his work focuses on medieval and early modern Europe, Poland, and east central Europe.  Peter’s supervising professor is Dr. James Palmitessa.
