History Graduate Student Organization

The History Graduate Student Organization (HGSO) at Western Michigan University bridges the gap that sometimes occurs between students and faculty. We host social events that help connect the academic and social worlds of students and the larger university community. Linking graduate activities to real life experiences, the HGSO encourages students to become active in the organization as well as the department and the university. HGSO also seeks to give graduate students an insider experience into the more hidden sides of academia. This would include forming a committee, raising funds, and nominating a guest speaker for the spring semester. Such activities are valuable assets on a strong professional resume or vita and invaluable experiences for one’s future professional life whether in the business world or the academy.
