Dr. Lewis Pyenson Awarded Life Membership in Royal Society of Canada

The Royal Society of Canada—also known as the Academies of Arts, Humanities and Sciences of Canada—recently awarded the honor of life membership to Dr. Lewis Pyenson. From 1973 to 2000, Dr. Pyenson taught at the Université de Montréal. Elected to the society in 1994, he will be recognized in a ceremony in Ottawa on November 22, 2019, with a 25-year pin.

The Royal Society of Canada is the senior national, bilingual council of merit for distinguished Canadian scholars, humanists, scientists and artists, and includes about 2,000 living members. Election is normally restricted to Canadian citizens resident in Canada. Dr. Pyenson is one of a relatively few non-residents elected to the organization. He is also among the relatively few who received this recognition while still living.
