Sylvia Hoffert '68 interviews Laura Bush for oral history project

The History Department’s 2017 Alumni Achievement Award recipient, Dr. Sylvia Hoffert, MA ’68, recently interviewed former First Lady Laura Bush for the Southern Methodist University’s Center for Presidential

History oral history project.  Over the past three years, the center has been conducting videotaped interviews with Laura Bush’s East Wing staff to create a historical record of the ways in which the First Lady’s office influenced domestic and foreign policies during the George W. Bush administration. Dr. Hoffert is the center’s lead interviewer for the oral history project. Although the interviews are currently sealed, the center intends to make them available to researchers.
