If you are separating from active duty or from the uniformed services, you might be able to continue health care coverage, depending on the circumstances of your separation. The Military Health System offers transitional health care options, the Transitional Assistance Management Program (TAMP) and the Continued Health Care Benefit Program (CHCBP), that provide temporary coverage.
VA Medical Centers
The VA Medical Center closest to Western Michigan University is located in Battle Creek, Michigan. The Battle Creek VA Medical Center administers a variety of benefits and services that provide financial and other forms of assistance to service members, veterans, their dependents and survivors. Sindecuse Health Center
WMU offers convenient, cost-saving services with an experienced, multidisciplinary staff dedicated to maintaining and improving patient health. We provide evaluation and treatment for a variety of illnesses and injuries, preventive health check-ups, periodic health monitoring, as well as health education opportunities that enhance individual and community health.

The Office of Military and Veterans Affairs provides some basic relocation services to help with easing the transition process.
By contacting the office and providing your mailing address, OMVA can send you a sponsorship packet consisting of the following information:

- Military scholarships

- WMU campus map with parking information
- WMU poster with over 250 undergraduate programs

WMU Children’s Place Learning Center, conveniently located in the middle of Western Michigan University’s campus, is an attractive child care option for children of WMU students, faculty and staff as well as the Kalamazoo community. Children 18 months to nine years will experience child initiated learning within a culturally diverse community. Please inform them that you are a military student/student veteran to take advantage of wait list advancement and other opportunities.
