Sustainability Celebration highlights campus programs and projects

Refreshments, an Inclusive Bike Ride and an opportunity to connect with the Office for Sustainability are highlights of the 2021 Fall Sustainability Celebration at Western Michigan University on Friday, Sept. 17

The annual event celebrates Western's commitment to sustainability by highlighting campus programs and projects.

OPEN HOUSE

The Sustainability Celebration commences at noon with an open house that will feature campus and community sustainability groups, EcoEssential distribution for new students, music, delicious desserts and coffee. The open house is designed to create new opportunities for advancing collaboration, making connections on campus and in the community and celebrating sustainability at WMU and Kalamazoo. 

INCLUSIVE BIKE RIDE

The Sustainability Celebration will conclude with the Inclusive Bike Ride from 2 to 3 p.m. This bike ride is a weekly event designed to break down barriers for new and experienced cyclists who are looking to join a group ride in Kalamazoo. This opportunity is open to everyone, so bring your bike and join the fun!
 
The ride will leave from the Bike Shop located at the Office for Sustainability.

OFFICE FOR SUSTAINABILITY

Located on the corner of Howard and West Michigan Ave at 2529 W. Michigan Ave., the Office for Sustainability is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Its mission is to guide and assist the WMU community in fulfilling and growing its sustainability commitments. Through building a diverse and flourishing learning community around sustainability, we will continually explore and develop new opportunities to create a culture of sustainability and improve quality of life for all.
 
Biking, walking and carpooling to the event is highly encouraged.
 
Complimentary parking will be available for attendees during the event in Lot 49.
