A pair of students work on a bicycle at WMU's Open Bike Shop

Bicycle Resource Hub

The Bicycle Resource Hub is the the Office for Sustainability’s clearinghouse for non-motorized transportation education, advocacy and policy efforts. Through this initiative, we lead workshops and community group rides, conduct non-motorized research and host a weekly Bike Shop for maintenance and repair. This service is for current WMU students, faculty and staff.

Schedule changes will be posted on the our homepage  and social media accounts

Students, faculty and staff will have the opportunity to drop off their bicycles to be repaired by student mechanics free of charge. The repair time depends on the bike's condition.  Please note, we can only accept one bike per drop off. The student mechanics will first look for used parts prior to purchasing anything new. Should the bike need replacement parts, visitors are expected to cover the cost of the parts (tubes, chains, brake pads, cable, housing, etc.).

If you have questions or concerns about the appointments or these policies please contact us at (269) 387-0943 or email @email. We will email or call you if we have to cancel your appointment. We have discontinued services for the general public at this time.

BroncoBikes is the Office for Sustainability's free, campus-wide bicycle rental program for students. It serves as a convenient and inexpensive way to ride to and from classes and get around Kalamazoo. With a BroncoBike, there is no reason to pay for gas, pay for car repairs, or wait around in traffic. We now offer the Momentum Street Mid-Step. Students can make their commute to class or work more enjoyable and stress free.

  • We offer the Momentum Street Mid-Step.
  • All bikes come with a Kryptonite U-Lock for secure storage.
  • A helmet comes with a rental and is required for riding a BroncoBike.
  • All renters are given a proper bicycle safety orientation and sign a liability waiver.
  • Best practice research to guide University policy and planning related to pathways, bike lanes, ingress/egress, signage, etc.
  • Research on the viability of cargo bicycles and electric assist bicycles in place of motorized campus fleet vehicles.
  • Implementation of a low cost, campus-wide bicycle rental program: BroncoBikes

The Department of Public Safety offers bicycle registration. To register your bike on campus, visit the Bike Registration page. Registering your bike helps to prevent theft and aid in recovery if your bike is lost or stolen.
