With the program naming comes a goal to increase philanthropic support for students through the program. Greater voluntary support will allow expansion of current services as well as the addition of new and other needed services.
International Bazaar 2025 will immerse visitors in cultures from around the globe

CHHS faculty collaborate with KAMSC students
Two KAMSC seniors, Sophia Barnard and David Li, collaborated with Dr. Kieran Fogarty and Dr. Rob Lyerla from WMU's College of Health and Human Services on a project titled "Revolutionizing Adolescent Health Monitoring: Passive Surveillance Analysis vs. National Surveys for Tracking Exercise and Mental Health (2011-2021)." Their research was presented at the Southwest Michigan Science and Engineering Fair (SMSEF) and selected for the state finals. The project will be showcased at the Michigan Science and Engineering Fair (MSEF) in April, with the potential to advance to the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in May.
Sophia and David praised Dr. Fogarty and Dr. Lyerla for their guidance, emphasizing the valuable learning experience and the development of critical thinking skills. This collaboration benefits students and contributes to future research in healthcare monitoring and emerging practices.

From China to the Midwest, WMU trustee finds a home in Kalamazoo
In the summer of 1989, Lynn Chen-Zhang left China two months earlier than planned due to rising political tensions. She was 22 years old. Today, Chen-Zhang calls Kalamazoo her home. She and her husband, Charles, have donated millions to Western Michigan University and organizations throughout southwestern Michigan.

In Michigan, Western Michigan University's Master of Public Health (MPH) program has partnered with the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi (NHBP) to create impactful community health initiatives. From Success at Southwest to Directing Denver International Airport: Dave LaPorte’s Aviation Operations Pathway
Dave LaPorte is the poster child for the adage that it always seems darkest before the dawn. Now, the man responsible for keeping Denver's international airport operating at peak efficiency, the WMU alumnus actually has two "darkest" on his resume. The native Michigander was serving in a management position for Southwest Airlines at the Manchester airport in New Hampshire when those four passenger jets were hijacked and crashed the nation into a severe panic in September of 2001. Later, he was on the Denver airport's senior leadership staff when the aviation industry was confronted by the Covid 19 pandemic.
