Open House Programs

Attend to experience WMU campus life as a Bronco! Dates for Fall 2025 are Oct. 3, Oct. 24, Nov. 7 and Nov. 15.

Open House

We invite you to attend an Open House event and see if Western is the right place for you.

If you’re considering Western, it may be because you’ve heard that 9 out of 10 graduates are employed in jobs they like*. Or that 92% of graduates who are working full time have a job related to their degree*.

Before our graduates became the success stories they are today, they were everyday students on a beautiful campus in Kalamazoo, Michigan. They made friends for life, spent time with professors who gave them a love of learning, and developed the practical skills they needed to get started on their chosen path.

Experience life as a Bronco

You set your own agenda for the day, and while you’re here, you can:

  • Tour academic buildings, residence halls and student hangouts alongside a current WMU student who can share their personal experience.
  • Dive into your academic interests during building tours with your intended academic college.
  • Get overviews covering the cost of college, how to apply for financial aid and the scholarships available to you.
  • Discover the campus resources designed to support your success—inside and outside the classroom.
  • Grab a taste of campus life with lunch at the Valley Dining Center, just like our students do.

So mark your calendars and get ready to experience a day tailor-made just for you at Western Michigan University. We can't wait to welcome you to campus!

Past attendees share thoughts about the Open House

"I was very impressed with the business college tour and break out sessions. It was nice to have students describe the internships, study abroad and organizations they are involved in. Everyone was so friendly."
— Family member
I liked having the personal/casual sit down with students from the same program as me. It felt less pressure and more personal.
— Prospective transfer student
"The tour we were given by three of the interior design students was excellent! They did a great job with the tour, explaining everything about the program, and answering any questions."

Through WMU's 2022-23 Post-graduation Activity Survey of graduates (bachelor's, master's, doctoral and post-baccalaureate certificate), the University collected data for a total of 3,253 graduates, or 77%, of those who earned their degrees between August 2022 and June 2023. Three weeks before each graduation, all graduating students receive an email on behalf of their college dean, department chairperson or program director with a personalized link to the Post-graduation Activity Survey. Nonrespondents receive at least four reminders via email. The data collection cycle ended on Oct. 31, 2023. Based on the survey respondents, 2,456 were employed full time, 66 were employed part time and 536 employed their degree to gain admittance to graduate school or were otherwise continuing their education. In addition, 1,023 of those working full time were satisfied with their job, based on 1,125 responses, and 2,096 of those working full time had a job related to their degree, based on 2,270 responses. Please review the Career Outcomes Report for detailed information about the methodology.
