4+1 Graduate Program with Albion College

The Department of Comparative Religion at Western Michigan University is pleased to announce the creation of a 4+1 graduate program with the Albion College. Under this program, students at Alion will be able to transfer up to 12 credit hours of work towards their master's degree in comparative religion at WMU.

COURSE TRANSFER

A maximum of 6 credit hours may be transferred to WMU from AC with the successful completion of any combination of two 200-level or 300-level Religious Studies courses with a grade of B or better from AC. Each 1-unit AC course would be transferred to WMU as 3 credit hours.

Credit by examination as REL5000 may be received from WMU for a total of 6 credit hours based on the evaluation of the final writing projects from any two of the following AC courses:

RS 401: Seminar
RS 402: Seminar

RS 411: Directed Study
RS 412: Directed Study

Credit by examination as REL5000 may also be received from WMU for a total of 3 or 6 credit hours based on the examination of a senior honors thesis, advised by a faculty member in Religious Studies, for which a student received honors at AC.

In either case, WMU Department of Comparative Religion Faculty will determine the basis for evaluation and the awarding of credit.
