Posted by Allison Boerema for World Religions and Cultures

April 10th, 7:00 p.m - 8:30 p.m. “Housing Justice In Detroit,” Lecture by Mark Crain, sponsored by the University Center for the Humanities, Multicultural Center, Adrian Trimpe Building, Rm. 1021 WMU Main Campus. Mark Crain will explore DREAM’s people- and partner-centric strategy that ensures its neighbors are leaders and beneficiaries of the area’s transformation even as the organization brings in new growth and opportunities, including new and rehabilitated homes, a Community Land Trust, re-entry services,  business development, vibrant Annual Street Fairs and more.  From his perspective leading this organization for over a decade, Crain will outline the progress DREAM has made toward achieving its vision for Detroit as a city anchored in its sustainable neighborhoods; a city where homeownership, small business development and cooperative economics, local food sourcing, and access to education and the arts are priorities of every neighborhood; and a city where neighborliness is a shared value.
