The Bernhard Center is the central location for student involvement at WMU. Along with the office of Student Activities and Leadership Programs, the Bernhard Center strives to accommodate the needs of individual students and registered student organizations. Because the Bernhard Center is a place designed to serve the needs of students, your input is valued. In 2012 the Bernhard Center Advisory Board was founded to provide a direct line of feedback regarding center facilities, programs and services from students to Bernhard Center management, and to provide increased ownership of the student center.
Student Activities and Leadership Programs
The office of Student Activities and Leadership Programs’ mission is “To enhance student learning and leadership development by engaging students in educationally purposeful and diverse co-curricular experiences”. The student activities office and its staff encourage student involvement in many different aspects. Examples include student government, Greek-life, or leadership conferences and retreats.
Bernhard Center Advisory Board
The Bernhard Center Advisory Board was founded in January, 2012 to assure that the Bernhard Center will achieve its mission and be a unifying force among students, faculty and staff. Social, cultural, intellectual activities and services provide opportunities to broaden interpersonal relationships and self-enhancement at Western Michigan University. The members of the BCAB advise the director, as well as the vice president of student affairs on all the important aspects of the Bernhard Center and its operations.
