                        5:30 to 7:30 p.m. First Community Meeting and Kick-Off


To celebrate Western Michigan University’s (WMU's) commitment to sustainability and introduce the depth and breadth of campus and community programs and projects, WMU’s Office for Sustainability and the City of Kalamazoo invites you to attend the third annual Sustainability Celebration on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019. 

Open House

The Sustainability Celebration commences at noon with an Open House that will feature campus and community sustainability groups, EcoEssential distribution for new students, live music, delicious desserts and coffee. The Open House is designed to create new opportunities for advancing collaboration, making connections on campus and in the community and celebrating sustainability at WMU and Kalamazoo.

Join us later for the Guided Bike Ride from the Office for Sustainability to the Kalamazoo Farmers Market for the City of Kalamazoo's First Community Meeting and Kick-Off. The meeting is a chance for you to provide your input about sustainability and climate planning for Kalamazoo. Come enjoy free food, educational tables, activities, music and community conversation focused on sustainability.

The Sustainability Celebration is free and open to the public. If the event seems too far away, you can contact the Office for Sustainability via to get updates and find out more about sustainability projects on campus and in the Kalamazoo community.

Located on the corner of Howard and West Michigan Ave, the Office for Sustainability is open Monday – Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The mission of the Office for Sustainability is to guide and assist the Western Michigan University community in fulfilling and growing its sustainability commitments. Through building a diverse and flourishing learning community around sustainability, we will continually explore and develop new opportunities to create a culture of sustainability and improve quality of life for all.

Biking and walking to each event is highly encouraged. Complimentary parking will be available for community members during the Office for Sustainability’s Open House in WMU Lots 49 & 76.
