Special Group Tours

Welcome to WMU!

Western Michigan University (WMU) welcomes requests from external groups for campus tours to foster community engagement and showcase the university's academic programs, facilities and student life. These group tours exist for those wishing to attend a campus visit to WMU whereas the University can accommodate up to 50 students a day, whether the group be high schoolers from 9 to 12 grade or transfer students from a two-year college in Michigan, Indiana or Illinois. Tours include an admissions presentation, student panel and campus tour for guests.

Tours are open to schools, educational non-profits and organizations, and other external entities aligned with WMU's mission. Commercial or for-profit entities may require additional approval.

About our group tours

Campus tours typically last 60 to 90 minutes and include a walking tour of key university facilities. Special requests (e.g., visits to specific departments or labs) must be communicated during the request process and are subject to the availability of the respective department or area.

If your class or group is interested in visiting WMU, please begin the request process by completing the Group Visit Request form. Requests will be reviewed by the Office of Admissions within 10 business days of submission. An official confirmation will be sent to the requestor once the visit is approved or to workshop additional dates if the requested time is unavailable.
