Bronco Spotlight: Alexis Frazier

Bachelor of Science in psychology, 2019

Resident Manager at WMU Residence Life

I currently manage 160 residents in Western View apartment, complete administrative tasks and departmental paperwork, and create programs to promote community involvement and inclusiveness. I also enforce policy and respond accordingly to any noticeable group or individual behavior, volunteer to participate in on-campus event, and demonstrate a high level of maturity, flexibility, and emotional stability.

What is the most rewarding and the most challenging part of your job?

Due to my work experience at WMU, I was grateful enough to work in a setting that has allowed me to mature, observe and acquire firsthand experience with young students facing academic, social, and financial challenges. This gave me that opportunity to build rapport with residents and become a resource for them all. The most challenging is the time conflict I faced being a student and a staff employee for all four of my undergraduate years.

What activities, resources, or people helped you prepare for your career?

My academic advisor and faculty have made a huge impact in education and definitely assisted me with advice and graduate school preparation related to my field.

What advice would you offer students to help them decide on a career path?

Find a career path that you're passionate about, not a career path that you would be interested in. Find a career that will never disappoint you but instead help you grow and impact your community daily.
