SCM Analytics Analyst at Southwest Airlines

I’m doing big data analytics in their Supply Chain Management department. Some of what I do is similar to Data Science however its mainly analytics right now. I utilized SQL/Tableau/Alteryx/R on a daily basis to do my job. Our current initiative is to develop self-service dashboards for our buyers and analysts to use. This takes our already existing KPIs and presents them in a tear down format so our users can slice and dice to figure out what parts/vendors/etc may be the next line of improvement.

What is the most rewarding and the most challenging part of your job?

Most rewarding part is working for the largest domestic airline, most profitable airline in history (44 years of profitability) and one of the most LUVed companies in the world! Southwest is seriously one of the best places I have ever worked. Everyone has a Warrior Spirit, Servant's Heart and Fun-LUVing Attitude which builds a great environment of People who support and LUV each other.    I would not say there is anything in particular I find challenging; every day is a new day in the aviation industry so you have to be on your toes. You never know what’s going to happen.
