Love What you do
Katie lives in Boston, Massachusetts, and works for Team Detroit. After graduating with a B.S. in merchandising in 2010, she accepted a position with Michael Kors. This experience allowed her to polish her sales skills, and gave her a keen understanding and appreciation of excellence in business practices. Her current position as an account executive for Team Detroit includes developing and coordinating print, email and social marketing programs for the company’s clients.
When asked about her job as an account manager for Team Detroit, Katie says “I love that it changes every day. I really enjoy creating interpersonal relationships with our clients. I also find it so rewarding to see the finished product of an advertisement that I facilitated and coordinated.”
During her studies at Western Michigan University, Katie spent a semester studying abroad in Paris, France. She also completed an internship at Nordstrom, which gave her an advantage when she was interviewing for her first job after graduation. In addition, Katie remembers her years at WMU as a time when she made lifelong friends and memories. Her advice to current fashion majors is to “find something that you love to do and it will never feel like work. Always strive to do your best even if you don’t feel like that particular job is right for you. The right doors will open when the time is right.”
