Overview
The M.A. in Adapted Physical Education is a 36-credit program designed to equip physical education teachers with the knowledge and skills to provide high-quality adapted physical education for students with disabilities. The program emphasizes instruction in the least restrictive, most inclusive, and developmentally appropriate environments. Graduates gain expertise in teaching fundamental motor skills and patterns, promoting physical and motor fitness, and delivering instruction across a variety of activities, including aquatic, dance, individual and group games and sports, and leisure and recreational skills.
Offered entirely online, this program allows students to complete coursework flexibly while maintaining professional and personal commitments. All courses are designed to prepare educators for leadership in inclusive physical education and to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities. Tuition is the same for resident and non-resident students, making this program accessible to learners nationwide. Graduates leave prepared to create meaningful, inclusive, and impactful physical education experiences for all students.
