KALAMAZOO, Mich.—A U.S. passport acceptance facility opened July 5 at Western Michigan University in the Haenicke Institute for Global Education's main administrative office on the second floor of Ellsworth Hall.

"We're excited to offer a convenient location on campus for WMU students and employees to apply for a passport," says Dr. Jane Blyth, Haenicke Institute executive director.

"As a globally engaged university, we seek to reduce the barriers to international experiences for the WMU community, and obtaining a passport is a major component of that. We also hope Kalamazoo-area community members will be able to take advantage of WMU's passport acceptance facility."

Operating hours

Members of the campus community and public who are planning international travel may apply for their passports and have the necessary photos taken during walk-in hours or by appointment on select days.

    • The application fee is $110 for adults and should be made payable to the U.S. Department of State. Specific fees by applicant category and document type are available by visiting travel.state.gov and clicking Passport Fees.
    • The application processing fee, which is waived for WMU students and employees, is $25 and should be made payable to WMU.
