Debra Lindstrom

I came to WMU Dept. of OT as an Assistant Professor in 1992 with 10 years of experience as an OT and 4 years of experience as a Special Education teacher working with children who had intellectual and emotional impairments as well as adolescents with behavior disorders.  Since being at WMU I have been involved with the Center for Disability Services here on campus, provided ergonomic consultations for university employees and was active with AARP Michigan providing community education for older adults.  I have enjoyed teaching and getting to know students throughout my almost 30 years at WMU and have seen the profession evolve into what OT is today.

Fun Fact:  I am passionate about buying, preparing and eating local foods and making the environment as sustainable as possible.  I am a supporter of the Kalamazoo Farmers’ Market and local farmers/producers who are finding innovative ways to distribute their locally grown food safely.
