Western Michigan University's College of Engineering and Applied Sciences has a new dean. Houssam A. Toutanji, professor and chairman of civil and environmental engineering at the University of Alabama-Huntsville, will become dean on July 1, the start of the 2015-16 academic year.

School of Music graduate competes in international trombone competition

Evan Clifton, of Howell, Mich., has been named a finalist in the Donald Yaxley Bass Trombone Competition and will travel to Valencia, Spain, in July to compete for a 2,000 euro gift certificate toward a new trombone at the 2015 International Trombone Festival.
