Western Michigan University selected to host 2026 ALSAME Conference!

Western Michigan University has been selected to host the 2026 ALSAME Youth Conference, an event that will bring hundreds of high school students from across Michigan to campus on Friday, May 8, 2026.

Designed to support college readiness and career exploration, the conference will feature a full day of workshops, panels, and a college fair. Students will engage in sessions focused on navigating college admissions, understanding financial aid, exploring emerging career fields and developing the skills needed to transition successfully into higher education.

For WMU, hosting the conference is an opportunity to demonstrate its commitment to how it helps all students thrive through an experience-driven education that prepares graduates for meaningful careers and fulfilled lives. Throughout the event, students will interact with WMU community members, ALSAME members, and community leaders who support learning inside and outside the classroom. They will also gain insight into initiatives that promote belonging and student well-being, and into programs that connect academic study with real-world applications.

ALSAME, a nonprofit organization, offers resources that help high school students strengthen academic performance, plan for college and build early awareness of career opportunities. Its annual conference brings together educators, industry partners and students to support successful transitions to postsecondary education.
