Professional development workshops
To participate in the Business Externship Program, students must attend and participate in two professional development workshops coordinated by the Career Center.
Workshop No. 1
This workshop will prepare you to be successful at your externship(s). Topics covered:
- Professional introduction
- Informational interviewing
- Company research
- Business communication, business etiquette, corporate culture and work environments
- Post-externship requirements (evaluation, thank you note, etc.)
Students will also receive the following documents:
- Professional Behavior Policy
- Learning contract
- Liability release and confidentiality agreement*
*Signature required to participate in the Business Externship Program.
Workshop No. 2
You will have an opportunity to provide feedback on the overall program experience and learn how to:
- Incorporate your externship on your resume
- Discuss your experience in an interview
