The following community providers can provide free or low cost testing for HIV or STD's.
The Community AIDS Resource and Education Services (CARES) offers free HIV testing at their offices located at 629 Pioneer Street, Suite 200. Walk-in hours are offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and appointments can be made by calling (269) 381-2437 ext 29.
Kalamazoo Health Department
Free and anonymous HIV Testing is provided at the Kalamazoo Health Department including pre and post-test counseling and rapid HIV testing. The Kalamazoo Health Department also offers a complete screening and risk reduction counseling for STD's. Testing for the Kalamazoo Health Department is located at 311 East Alcott Street and is available on the following days and times:
- Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (except holidays): 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Closed every third Tuesday of the month from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Planned Parenthood Kalamazoo offers HIV testing, education, and referrals during all business hours by appointment. Planned Parenthood also offers STD testing, treatment, and vaccines during all business hours by appointment. Appointments can be made online or by calling (269) 372-1200. Planned Parenthood accepts most private and public insurance, Medicaid, and offers a lower fee scale if you don't have insurance or Medicaid.
Walgreen's, located at 5020 W. Main St. (corner of West Main and Drake Road) offers testing the first Wednesday of the month from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
