Community Building Workshops

To create an inclusive community that encourages dialogue, allyship, and relationships includes building awareness, confidence, and practice. The following workshops are available for any member of the WMU community to participate in. Practice and application of knowledge from these workshops can contribute to the following components of well-being:

What is Cognitive Empathy and how can it make our campus better? To get a better understanding of another person’s experience, and how they think or feel. This workshop encourages participants to have honest and productive conversations blending demographic data, social-science research, and discussion. Participants will engage in exercises to develop skills to discuss complicated topics with others.

Join the Office of LBGT Student Services to learn the basics of what it means to be transgender including primers on social, legal, and medical processes. Participants will learn about: the differences between sexual orientation and gender identity, on and off campus resources, and common social, legal, or medical processes that transgender/gender nonconforming people may navigate.
