Dr. Scott Cowley is an associate professor of marketing at Western Michigan University's Haworth College of Business and co-director of the college's digital marketing and eCommerce program.

Cowley is an award-winning innovator, multi-year keynote, and highest-rated conference speaker in digital marketing education, creating experiential projects that have been adopted at over 100 universities worldwide. He received the top award for faculty teaching (2020) from the Haworth College of Business. He coached a WMU student team to first place in the national PNW Digital Marketing Competition (2019) and second place in the national CADMA Social Media Case Competition (2019). He also won the Marketing Management Association's Axcess Capon Teaching Innovation Competition (2015). He has contributed to the creation of multiple digital marketing textbooks and industry marketing certifications.

 His research spans a variety of digital marketing and social media areas, from strategy to education. He was awarded the Outstanding Article of the Year (2019) in the Journal of Marketing Education for his research on the state of digital marketing education in U.S. business schools and is currently on the journal's editorial review board. He also has multiple published articles on teaching social media and search engine optimization. He has presented research at multiple international academic conferences.

Prior to joining WMU, Cowley earned a Ph.D. from Arizona State University and a B.S. in marketing from Brigham Young University. He is originally from Salt Lake City, where he worked as a digital marketing agency strategist and led SEO for a consumer tech company.
