WMU to offer organizational change leadership minor to enhance military leadership training

Western Michigan University has created a new organizational change leadership minor designed for military members and veterans. The minor allows them to apply their existing military leadership training towards college credit, speeding up their degree progress and building further expertise in organizational change.

WMU welcomes more than 50 new international students this January

Of the 53 newcomers, approximately 40% are entering a graduate program at WMU, while 45% are pursuing undergraduate degrees. The remaining 15% are undertaking intensive English language instruction at the school’s Center for English Language and Culture for International Students to communicate at a level necessary to pursue a degree.

Three accountancy students receive $15,000 scholarship

Three students from Western Michigan University received a competitive $15,000 scholarship from the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) for the 2024-25 academic year. The merit-based scholarship encourages accounting students to pursue careers in auditing. Three awards is a record for the number of scholarships PCAOB has given to WMU accounting students in a single year.

Innovation in Action: WMU's Anastasia Charnesky Honored with the 2024 Central District IDSA Merit Award

Western Michigan University student Anastasia Charnesky wins the Central District IDSA Merit Award for her innovative design projects that include electric vehicle charging forecasts, a spice grinding accessory, and a humanitarian aid product. Now a graduate, she is an Associate Industrial Designer at Newell Brands.

The WMU College of Aviation attracts students from around the globe -- meet Po Hsien "Johnny" Chen, whose roots are in Taipei, the capital city of Taiwan, and who ended up in Southwest Michigan by way of the northern Indiana community of Elkhart. WMU, Kalamazoo College, partner for Japanese language and culture event

The Haenicke Institute for Global Education announces the 2025 Japanese Culture and Language Presentations. The event, which features student research, will be held on Jan. 16 from 4:15-6 p.m. at Kalamazoo College. WMU's Soga Japan Center and Kalamazoo College are partnering to offer this event in-person for the first time.

Jan. 7, 2025—Western Michigan University Libraries is thrilled to announce the publication of “Seeing the World Through Religion and Culture,” by Drs. Diane Riggs and Anderson Hagler, and “Career Chinese: Bridging the Gaps for Success,” by Drs. Xiaojun Wang, Jin Liu, Ping Yu and Ms. Yuanyuan Huang.
