Max Lampert fuels up for his future
KALAMAZOO, Mich.— Max Lampert, a senior at Western Michigan University, is gearing up for his future. From Williamsburg, Michigan, Lampert is studying supply chain management at the Haworth College of Business, and steering into the professional world through an internship with Ford Motor Company.
This past summer, Lampert worked as a supply chain purchasing intern at Ford Motor Company. Having been drawn to the company’s prestige around work ethic, Lampert was responsible for supporting the buyers on his team in the supplier selection process. As a member of the team, Lampert never lacked encouragement.
“My favorite part of this internship was networking and meeting all the amazing employees that were so willing to connect with an intern. Every superior who worked around me made sure I understood that they were always available for help. My manager set up daily conference calls to ensure my success throughout the summer.”
Having placed a foot into the professional world, Lampert is buzzing with anticipation for what his future holds.
“I’m most looking forward to further exploring the concepts that I’ve learned throughout my education in a work environment. This summer, I led a team that completed a comprehensive rubric for supplier selection. This experience made me excited for what lies ahead on my professional path.”
Throughout his time at WMU Haworth, Lampert has had the support he needed to push himself and be the best student he can be. He says, “Professors and advisors have been in my corner ever since I declared my major. I feel comfortable going to my professors for any help that I need, whether it be for some extra tutoring for class, help with another course or general advice.”
The faculty at WMU Haworth have also given students like Lampert endless professional exposure. “I’ve been provided with countless opportunities to seek and achieve excellence,” he says. “Through career fairs, networking through professors, and most importantly, our wonderful academic advising team, I’ve been lucky enough to receive an internship and invaluable career guidance.”
With only one more semester to complete, Lampert leaves some advice for future business students.
“Use all the tools that the business college provides! Go to all the career fairs—not just the one for your major—and network with your professors. The people at WMU Haworth want to see you succeed. Allow them to!”
