Campus service hours and closures for spring recess

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Western Michigan University will operate with reduced hours for some campus services during spring recess, which runs from Monday through Friday, March 9-13. Additionally, staff will observe a closure day on March 13. Faculty, staff, students and the public are encouraged to check in advance to confirm the hours of specific offices. 

Other important dates to know: There are no classes on Friday, March 6, because of Spirit Day; daylight saving time begins on Sunday, March 8; and classes will resume post-recess at 8 a.m. on Monday, March 16. 

For emergencies only, contact the WMU Department of Public Safety at 911. For non-emergencies, call (269) 488-8911. 

Office closings apply to non-represented University employees. Many represented employees may have contractually scheduled regular work days March 9-13 since the University continues to provide services during the recess. Represented employees should direct questions to their management. View holiday 2025-26 schedules for employees. 

WMU offices, services and more

Many offices, including the Office of Admissions, Bronco Express and the Office of Student Transitions, will maintain regular hours March 9-12 but will be closed March 13.

Buses for Main Campus and Parkview routes will not run March 6-14. The Aviation Shuttle will not run March 6 or March 9-14. 

The Technology Help Desk will be open for walk-in and phone support March 9-12, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but it will be closed March 13-15.

WMU Student Center will be open March 6 from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., March 7-8 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., March 9-13 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., March 14 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and March 15 from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The WMU Bookstore, PNC Bank, FedEx and most student center eateries will be open weekdays during spring recess but closed on weekends. The bookstore also will be closed March 7.

Miller Auditorium will maintain regular business hours throughout the recess. 

Sindecuse Health Center, including the pharmacy, will maintain regular hours March 9-12 but will be closed March 13. Medical emergencies should be referred to local hospitals or other health care providers.

The Student Recreation Center (SRC) is open March 6 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., March 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; closed March 8; open March 9-12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; closed March 13-14; and open March 15 from 5 to 9 p.m. The pool, sauna and climbing wall are closed March 6-15. The main office will be open March 6 and March 9-12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The SRC resumes regular hours at 6 a.m. on March 16.

Unified Clinics will maintain regular hours throughout the recess. 

Dining

Student Center Dining will be open March 6 and March 9-12 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. but closed March 7-8 and March 13-15

Valley Dining Center will be closed March 6-12 but open March 15 from 5 to 8 p.m. 

DASH Grab’n Go will be closed March 6 and March 9-12 but open March 7-8 and March 13-15 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Late-Night Carryout at Café 1903 will be closed March 5-15

Libraries

Waldo Library will have reduced hours for spring recess, beginning Thursday, March 5

  • March 5: Open from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • March 6: Open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • March 7-8: Closed.
  • March 9-12: Open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • March 13-14: Closed. 

Regular hours will resume March 15. Detailed hours of library operation are available on the University Libraries webpage. 

Bookmark Café will be closed March 5-15.
