Bio:
I began my academic career in Western Michigan University’s Occupational Therapy programs in 2023 as a part-time instructor. In the fall of 2025, I transitioned to a full-time role as a Clinical Faculty Specialist in the WMU OT department, where I teach courses in both the OT and OTA programs, with a focus on older adulthood. Prior to teaching, I worked as an occupational therapist for over eight years in various healthcare settings across West Michigan, including skilled nursing facilities, home health, and outpatient clinics—most notably at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation in Kalamazoo, MI. Clinical areas of interest include working with clients who have lymphatic conditions, such as lymphedema & lipedema along with working with clients diagnosed with neurological conditions, such as Parkinson’s disease.
Before entering the OT field, I spent more than 15 years as a professional musician, performing, teaching, and composing jazz and classical music. A highlight of my music career was winning first prize at the Brussels Jazz Orchestra International Composition Competition in 2022—that was a fun moment! I’ve always considered myself a people-person, which is why I enjoy teaching and connecting with students so much.
Fun Fact: I love watching NHL hockey when I have time—my favorite team is the Calgary Flames (sorry, not the Red Wings!). In my spare time, I enjoy cooking and experimenting with bread baking, though success is rare. I also love listening to music and attending live concerts whenever I can.
