Bio:

Howard Huff is new to the state of Michigan and is absolutely thrilled to become a Bronco! Howard started his higher learning career as a student at Waldorf College and soon transferred to Montana State University (MSU). During his time at MSU he was very active in the outdoors, taking part in many mountaineering and rock-climbing adventures that eventually lead him to go abroad. As a first-generation college student, Howard earned a B.S. in Secondary Education with an all-social-sciences teaching endorsement. To cap off his undergraduate career, he was the first person from MSU to complete their student teaching experience at Tain Royal Academy in Scotland. This experience ignited his passion for studying abroad. Howard then earned a Certification in English Language Teaching for Adults from the University of Cambridge and spent the next seven years teaching while traveling globally. He focused much of his teaching experiences in Eastern Asia where he certainly learned more about teaching than he taught.

Upon returning to the United States, Howard continued his own path in higher education by earning an M.S. degree from Drake University in Adult Learning and Educational Performance. He then turned his passion for learning to the training sector where he helped businesses develop training experiences in the fields of technology, sales, and insurance. During this time, as a side project, Howard certified teachers who had placement opportunities in overseas schools and his connections abroad and commitment to global learning strengthened.

Howard recently graduated from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology with an EdD. in Educational Psychology & Technology. His dissertation focus was defining the new role of instructors and student engagement in online learning environments. Howard is excited to become a member of WMU’s Study Abroad Team and to focus his energy on helping students take their turn at learning abroad.

In his free time, you will find Howard waiting for it to snow so that he can put his snowboard to work. When it is not snowing you may spot him in museums, at a Bronco game, on his motorcycle, eating fried dumplings at the Campus Wok, or taking a brisk hike.
