Master of Arts in English Education

The Master of Arts in English Education is newly designed program of study that provides students with foundational graduate-level exposure to key concepts and debates within the field of English education. A thirty-three hour degree program, students who elect this track are required to take ENGL 6150: Literary Criticism, ENGL 6900: Scholarship and Writing in the Profession, a section of Children’s or Adolescent Literature, and three sections of an innovative seminar in English education which provides core material while allowing students to develop focus areas relevant to their own professional needs and goals.

This program track provides foundational knowledge for those intending to seek out doctoral study in English education and is designed to appeal to practicing secondary education teachers who wish to develop knowledge of their craft beyond the baccalaureate level and. This degree does not, however, lead to teacher certification.
