Bio: 

Dr. Brian Gogan is an associate professor in rhetoric and writing studies and is the director of the first-year writing program in the Department of English at Western Michigan University.

His work has appeared in College Composition and Communication, Rhetoric Review, Across the Disciplines, and the International Journal of Baudrillard Studies, as well as the collections Who Speaks for Writing: Stewardship for Writing Studies in the 21st Century, Re/Framing Identifications, and Microhistories of Composition. His first monograph, Jean Baudrillard: The Rhetoric of Symbolic Exchange, was published by Southern Illinois University Press in 2017.

Gogan has taught courses in college composition, business writing, technical writing, academic literacy and public sphere literacy. His teaching has been recognized with four teaching awards, including the 2014 Timothy Ryan Hurttgam Memorial Faculty Award and a 2015 College of Arts and Sciences Faculty Achievement Award, and his community engagement work has been recognized with the 2017 Michigan Campus Compact Champion of Engagement Award and the 2016 Western Michigan University Excellence in Service-Learning Award.
