Higher Education Emergency Relief Funding

bronco tulips outsideThe Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act or, CARES Act, was passed by Congress on March 27th, 2020. This bill allotted funds to provide fast and direct economic aid to the American people negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Funds were allocated to the Office of Postsecondary Education as the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund, or HEERF. Because of HEERF, Western Michigan University has been able to financially assist students through these grant funds.

In Spring 2020, we were able to allocate funds to students through the HEERF-CARES Act and we are able to do the same for the Spring 2021 semester, known as HEERF ll.
