Dr. Kuanchin (KC) Chen serves as the Upjohn Chair of Business Administration, Director of the Center for Business Analytics and professor of computer information systems at the Haworth College of Business, Western Michigan University. A prolific and award-winning scholar, Dr. Chen conducts research at the intersection of data analytics, artificial intelligence, social media, privacy and trust, and the behavioral aspects of technology use.
His teaching portfolio spans a wide range of topics, including artificial intelligence, electronic business, project management, business analytics, web architecture, machine learning and data mining, databases, business intelligence and software development.
Dr. Chen has received numerous accolades for his contributions to research and teaching from prestigious scholarly associations, academic institutions, leading journals, major conferences and the U.S. Fulbright Program. He was also named WMU’s institutional recipient of the Mid-American Conference Outstanding Faculty Award for Student Success.
Dr. Chen has held a range of editorial roles, including editor-in-chief, associate editor, editorial board member, and co-editor of academic book series. A sought-after speaker, he Chen has delivered over 70 academic and industry seminars worldwide, including keynote addresses and invited talks at universities, conferences, government agencies and other prominent organizations. His interdisciplinary research bridges technical, psychological, and behavioral disciplines, and his current work focuses on workforce upskilling and reskilling through human–AI symbiosis.
