At 8-0, WMU is one of nine teams in the nation to remain undefeated.

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—No. 20 ranked Western Michigan University, led by head coach P.J. Fleck, defeated Eastern Michigan 45-31 to improve to 8-0 and 4-0 in the Mid-American Conference. The eight-game winning streak matches the 1941 team's program record.

WMU, one of nine remaining undefeated college football teams, held steady at No. 20 in the AP rankings. The Broncos dropped one spot to No. 21 in the USA Today Amway Coaches Poll.

Eastern Michigan gave WMU its best test yet of the conference season. The Broncos briefly trailed for the first time this season on their home field, but had a strong end to the second quarter and carried it into the second half.

The Broncos will have 10 days off before traveling to Muncie, Indiana, for a midweek game versus Ball State. A win will move the Broncos to 9-0 and surpass the best start in program history. Other remaining games on the schedule are against Kent State, Buffalo and Toledo.
