Football Broncos remain undefeated after a win at Ball State

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Under the direction of head coach P.J. Fleck, No. 17 ranked Western Michigan University defeated Ball State 52-20 Tuesday night to improve to 9-0 and 5-0 in the Mid-American Conference and surpass the best start in program history.

WMU, one of only five undefeated college football teams, is ranked No. 17 in the AP Poll and No. 18 in the USA Today Amway Coaches Poll.

Highlights

Corey Davis set the WMU single-game record with 272 yards receiving. He caught three touchdowns, bringing his career total to 47 and tying the MAC career touchdown record with three games left on the schedule.

Standouts include:

  • Senior wide receiver Corey Davis: three TDs, 272 yards, 12 receptions
  • Junior running back Jarvion Franklin: two TDs, 109 yards, 17 carries
  • Junior cornerback Darius Phillips: interception return for a TD
  • Junior linebacker Asantay Brown: one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, 12 tackles

WMU will travel to Kent, Ohio, for another midweek game versus Kent State Tuesday, Nov. 8. Other remaining games on the schedule are home against Buffalo and Toledo.
