Some campus services on reduced hours during spring recess 2023

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Some campus services at Western Michigan University will be on reduced hours during spring recess, which begins Monday, March 6, and continues through Friday, March 10. New this year:  Non-bargaining staff will have an additional closure day on March 10.

There are no classes on Friday, March 3, for Spirit Day and throughout spring recess, but most offices are open regular hours. Faculty, staff, students and the public are encouraged to call ahead to make sure a particular office is open. Daylight saving time begins Sunday, March 12; classes resume beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, March 13.

No bus or shuttle service will be available March 3-10. Visit the busing webpage for more information on routes.

Office closings apply to non-represented University employees. Many represented employees may have contractually scheduled regular work days March 6-10 since the University continues to provide services during the recess. Represented employees should direct questions to their management.

Employees are reminded to shut off and unplug all nonessential electronics before spring recess.

Hours for campus offices and services

Many offices, including admissions, Bronco Express, Office of Student Transitions and Sindecuse Health Center and its pharmacy will maintain regular hours March 6-9 but will be closed Friday, March 10.

The Bernhard Center is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on March 3; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on March 4, closed March 5; open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 6-9; open 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on March 10; open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 11 and 10 a.m. to noon on March 12. The WMU Bookstore is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 3 and closed March 4-12.

WMU Busing Main Campus and Parkview routes and the Aviation Shuttle will not run March 3-10. The Aviation Shuttle will resume March 11 and other bus routes on March 13.

The Student Recreation Center (SRC) is open March 3 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., March 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., closed March 5, open March 6-9 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed March 10-11 and open March 12 from 5 to 9 p.m. The main office will be open March 6-9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The SRC resumes regular hours at 6 a.m. on March 13.

Unified Clinics will maintain regular hours throughout the recess.

Miller Auditorium will maintain regular business hours throughout the recess.

Dining

Late-Night Carryout will be closed on Thursday, March 2. The Valley Dining Center (VDC) and Café 1903 will have reduced hours and options during Spirit Day and spring recess, March 3-12, and the full dining schedule is available online. While many options at the VDC will be available, note that Cilantro's, Pacific Plate and Baked Pasta Bowls will not be offered during the recess. Popular items from Blazin' Bronco Grill will be served from the Traditions venue. Regular spring dining hours resume March 13.

Libraries

Waldo Library will close at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 3. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 6-9, closed March 10 and open noon to 5 p.m. on March 11. Regular hours resume at noon on March 12. Detailed hours of library operation are available on the University Libraries website.

Bookmark Café will be closed March 3-12.

Campus computing

The Information Technology Help Desk is open for phone and walk-in support from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, March 3. It will be closed March 4 and open only for phone support on March 5 from noon to 5 p.m. The help desk is open for phone and walk-in support from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 6-10.
