Some campus services on reduced hours during spring recess 2024
KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Some campus services at Western Michigan University will be on reduced hours during spring recess, which begins Monday, March 4, and continues through Friday, March 8. All staff will have an additional closure day on March 8.
There are no classes on Friday, March 1, for Spirit Day and throughout spring recess, but most offices are open regular hours. Faculty, staff, students and the public are encouraged to call ahead to make sure a particular office is open. Daylight saving time begins Sunday, March 10; classes resume beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, March 11.

Office closings apply to non-represented University employees. Many represented employees may have contractually scheduled regular work days March 4-8 since the University continues to provide services during the recess. WMU offices and facilities
The WMU Student Center will be open March 1 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., March 2-3 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., March 4-8 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., March 9 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and March 10 from 8 a.m. to noon.
The WMU Bookstore, PNC Bank, FedEx and most student center eateries will be open weekdays during spring recess but closed March 8 and on weekends.
Many offices, including the Office of Admissions, Bronco Express and the Office of Student Transitions will maintain regular hours March 4-7 but will be closed Friday, March 8.
WMU Busing Main Campus and Parkview routes and the Aviation Shuttle will not run March 1-8.
The Information Technology Help Desk will maintain regular hours for walk-in and phone support throughout the recess.
Miller Auditorium will maintain regular business hours throughout the recess.
Sindecuse Health Center, including the pharmacy, will maintain regular hours March 4-7 but will be closed Friday, March 8. Medical emergencies should be referred to local hospitals or other health care providers.
The Student Recreation Center (SRC) is open March 1 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., March 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., closed March 3, open March 4-7 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed March 8-9 and open March 10 from 5 to 9 p.m. The pool, sauna and climbing wall are closed March 1-10.
The main office will be open March 1 and 4-7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The SRC resumes regular hours at 6 a.m. on March 11.
Unified Clinics will maintain regular hours throughout the recess.
Dining
WMU Student Center Dining is open March 1 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., March 2-3 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., March 4-8 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., March 9 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and March 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Village Deli and Slice will be closed March 1-10.
The Valley Dining Center (VDC) will be closed during Spirit Day and spring recess, March 1-9, and open March 10 from 5-8 p.m. View the full dining schedule. Regular spring dining hours resume March 11.
Libraries
Waldo Library will have reduced hours for spring recess beginning Thursday, Feb. 29. Waldo Library is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 4-7 but will be closed March 8-9. Detailed hours of library operation are available on the University Libraries webpage.
Bookmark Café will be closed March 1-10.
