Join ORI’s Director Technology and Innovation Advancement, David Johnson, and Mentor-in-Residence Kari Haab in a discussion of the process of commercializing your discoveries and how ORI can assist on how to work with corporations regarding IP issues and sponsored research, and how to maximize research impact by combining publications with IP rights.
Nov 19, 11am-12pm: Beyond Borders: Export Controls in Research and Innovation
Education, research, and commerce are more global today than ever before. This interactive workshop explores how international collaborations, travel, technology, funding, data sharing, and research activities may intersect with export control regulations. Participants will learn how to recognize potential compliance considerations and when to engage with the WMU Export Control Office.
Jan 21, 11am-12:30pm: Preparing for Human Subject Research
Topics covered the IRB process, using Cayuse, crafting your consent, data collection considerations, common errors and tips when preparing protocol for review, data dissemination post-study, and review/oversight based on regulations and university policies.
Feb 18, 11am-12pm: Funded Faculty Panel
This panel includes faculty from across campus who have successfully obtained funding from a variety of sponsors, (e.g., NSF, NIH, SAMSHA, NEH, etc). Each panelist will discuss their experience from proposal to project and there will be time for a Q&A.
Mar 18, 11am-12pm: Grant Basics
This training introduces the core principles of post-award administration. Topics include award management, financial oversight, compliance monitoring, and the lifecycle of sponsored projects following award acceptance.
Apr 15, 11am-12pm: Resubmission Strategies
Presented by Hanover Research, this presentation will help grantseekers understand reviewer comments and scores and provide direction on responding to these comments.
