The Certificate in Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) prepares educators and related service personnel to address the unique behavioral needs of PreK–12 learners through proactive, data-driven, and collaborative practices. Participants will gain the tools to work effectively with school teams and take on leadership roles in the implementation of positive behavior supports. This flexible program is offered in-person, online, or in a hybrid format to meet the varied needs of working professionals. This program combines foundational theory with practical application to equip you with the tools to support positive student behavior. You’ll explore behavior analysis, school-wide support systems, and strategies for managing challenging behaviors. Through functional assessments and intervention planning, you'll learn to design effective, individualized behavior supports. You’ll also develop coaching skills to help other educators improve classroom management. A hands-on clinical experience ensures you’re ready to make a real impact in schools.

Students will complete a planned program of study consisting of 15 credits of course work for the graduate certificate. An overall program grade point average of 3.0 or better is required to continue in the certificate program. 

  • Bachelor’s degree, at least one school based credential, and prior PreK-12 experience.
  • One page statement explain applicant interest in this certificate.
  • Meet university requirements for graduate level admission.
