Completion of 150 annual district provided professional development hours

DPPD hours can be used to earn a professional or full occupational certificate. On Jan. 10, 2013, the Michigan Department of Education notified all local and intermediate school district superintendents and public school academy directors of the new educator certificate licensing process. This letter of January 10, 2013, and this letter of June 6, 2013, explain the schools responsibility regarding the documentation of district provided professional development.

You are required to complete the DPPD form (one per school year) and have them signed by the principal or assigned designee of the school district. Once signed by the principal or designee you may enter the DPPD hours into the MOECS (Sec. 380.1527).

DPPD hours cannot count toward any renewals.

Master's degree earned at any time

Effective June 2014 this approved waiver allows teachers to use an approved master's degree earned at any time to renew a provisional certificate or progress to the professional education certificate regardless of when it was earned. The master's degree can be used to meet your professional learning requirement.
