Data and Reporting

Western Michigan University's certification office handles data and reporting processes relating to certification, licensure, assessment and accreditation. The office processes Michigan Test for Teacher Certification scores, administers the college's data collection and analysis software—Tk20 by Watermark, maintains a shareable college-wide data website and collaborates with internal and external constituents to gather and validate data.

Collaborations

The certification office works with both internal and external partners to gather, validate and share data used for program review, assessment and accreditation.

The Michigan Department of Education requires all candidates to pass the appropriate Michigan Test for Teacher Certification prior to certification. The certification office verifies test registrants for accurate test registration, processes electronic test results and ensures that test results are available to appropriate university shareholders.

The office also ensures Oral Proficiency Interview scores, which are required for certification in world languages, are available to appropriate university shareholders.

The certification office houses Tk20 by Watermark's primary administrator for the college. This system supports state and federal reporting as well as assessment and accreditation efforts.

The certification office maintains a teacher education reporting calendar with detailed timelines and deadlines for institutional, state and federal reports, including Title II. These timelines and deadlines are communicated to internal constituents to facilitate timely and accurate report submission.

The office processes faculty and administrator data requests relating to test scores, passing rates and other reporting information. If you have data request, please complete the Data Request Form and email it to the Coordinator for Data and Reporting.

The office collaborates with Institutional Research to ensure accurate teacher education program information is available in Banner and to gather information needed for reporting.

The certification office provides required data regarding teacher education to various external stakeholders, including the Michigan Department of Education, the United States Department of Education and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation.
