The excitement of the Senior Engineering Design Conference, commencement and ongoing research can be felt in the halls of Floyd Hall, home to our College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Graduating students are finding promising positions in industry. Current students continue to pursue internships and academic challenges as they uncover the specific paths they take. Alumni at all stages of their careers continue to advance engineering and applied sciences as they take on industry challenges and lead advancements in technology and their fields.
Now, midway through the academic year, we pause to focus on the many successes of our Broncos—alumni who are receiving awards, students who are preparing for the future and demonstrating their creativity and productivity, and our faculty who are researching important advances that impact our global economy.
In this edition of Inspire Magazine, you’ll read about Broncos impacting our future. Meet our 2023 alumni award recipients and learn what students are doing to prepare for the future of space exploration. Dr. Zach Asher’s team continues to make inroads into improving autonomous transportation and Drs. Qingliu Wu and Massood Atashbar secured a larger printer for producing flexible components and batteries. More highlights include:
- The Sunseeker student organization unveils a new solar car.
- Dr. Sam Ramrattan continues a nearly 30-year research partnership with Sinto Corporation.
- Jim Castellano is the inaugural recipient of our highest alumni award, the Spire Award.
- Electrical engineering student Tessa Biondo is taking advantage of the opportunities offered by the College.
There is so much excitement within our building. We welcome any of you to come visit and see for yourselves what we offer and how we can partner with you through student employment, support
of scholarships or research partnerships.
Cheers,
Steve Butt, Dean
