Daniel Knapper

Daniel Knapper is an Assistant Professor of English at Western Michigan University. His research interests include early modern literature (especially drama), Reformation religious culture, the history of style and rhetoric, book history, and textual editing. 

He is the author of Pauline Style and Renaissance Literary Culture (Oxford University Press), as well as essays in scholarly journals including Reformation, English Literary Renaissance, Sixteenth Century Journal, Shakespeare Studies, and Renaissance Studies. He is also the editor of Comparative Drama, a quarterly journal of drama, theatre, and performance studies published by WMU’s English department. His work has been supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Folger Shakespeare Library, and other organizations.

His current research projects include a book on Shakespeare and biblical prophecy, and a new edition of Shakespeare’s tragicomedy The Tempest for Broadview Press in partnership with the New Internet Shakespeare Editions. 

At WMU, he teaches courses in drama and early British literature.
