Convergence Research

Posted by Brianna Galli for Research and Innovation

Growing convergence research is one of the NSF's 10 big ideas. According to the organization, “The grand challenges of today—protecting human health; understanding the food, energy, water nexus; exploring the universe at all scales—will not be solved by one discipline alone. They require convergence: The merging of ideas, approaches and technologies from widely diverse fields of knowledge to stimulate innovation and discovery.” This session will cover concept, programs and funding opportunities that require and encourage convergence research and how to situate a proposal that includes convergence research. Interactive discussions will be used to generate research ideas that incorporate convergence research.
